How Do You Make Ice Taste INCREDIBLE?! #spon

In the summertime when the weather is fine there is only one thing you need. Granitas! This recipe is a foolproof and delicious take on the epic frozen Italian dessert.

Make it yourself:
Tropical Carrot Cake:
With the saved orange pulp, a great use is to combine 250g of it with 175g of plain flour, 175g soft brown sugar, 1 tsp of baking powder, 2 eggs, 100ml of sunflower oil and a handful of chopped up dried mango to give you a tropically spiced carrot cake batter that only needs baking off for 50 minutes at 160℃ to give you something really quite special.

    • Well, I’m not religious (atheist here ^_~), so I don’t really see the point of it for me, but to each their own. ^_^

      I just know from personal experience, that I start feeling faint when I don’t drink enough during summer – without working out even! Maybe I’m just especially weak when it comes to heat? Or not used to it enough? Maybe you develop better coping mechanisms otherwise? (Or maybe it’s a complexion thing? I’m super pale.)

      I remember a couple of years back, being at a gardening show where I spent only about 5, maybe 6 hours in the sun (it was a very hot day around 38 degrees outside and there was no shade to be found) – just walking around (no sports, nothing, just standing and walking) without drinking and I felt SO awful, got a severe headache and started throwing up as soon as I got home.
      My doctor said, that not drinking enough was probably the reason for that, so going by what little it takes for me personally to get sick from dehydration, I’d assume that 17 hours in the same conditions would probably land me in hospital. Let alone having to actually do physical work during!

      And thinking that people who fast for religious reasons might risk that does make me concerned and making a big deal out of it, yep. ^_~
      I don’t think having some water takes away from the experience either. It’s symbolic, right? You’d still feel the sacrifice of not eating, no? The point is to feel the sacrifice, not to get sick after all.

    • Jemima1377 for most of the people the thirst is bearable.And if in case someone feels like they cant take it anymore they can break their fast and makeup for it later after ramadan by fasting again or by giving food to poor people…. its not that hard to fast it might seem like it is dangerous but actually it is not dangerous and it also makes us appreciate the luxury of having clean drinking water and food and many other things which other people cant have and be more grateful for everything. 😊

    • +Jemima1377 people who can’t do it , have the right not to . Personally it’s in Ramadan that I become more sane lol I quit many of my bad habits . And maybe it’s the commitment we show to god that helps us during it (I know this is nonsense for you haha , but it’s true :3 )

      I don’t think it’s nonsense per se – believe can be a VERY strong force. That you BELIEVE, it will make you stronger/more likely to stop bad habits/… will probably actually help to achieve just that. I just don’t think there’s any god involved. ^_~
      There is scientific evidence after all, for how important and influential believe can be in many psychology experiments – just think of the widely known placebo-effect: it’s all about believe.
      I don’t share the believe, that there is some higher being though, that’s right. ^_^

    • These are additional videos to their normal schedule, they’ve been doing the same with Co-Op for ages with “Now Cook It”

    • They’re touring the US right now anyway so they can’t have a full week of themed cooking right now, plus this isn’t a charitable setup, this is a business setup and they have to support themselves and their families. We’re just getting amazing recipes and excellent entertainment into the bargain, all by watching FREE cooking videos on the internet.

  1. One of my favorite granitas to make consists of coffee and sweetened condensed milk frozen and scraped. Absolutely heavenly for any coffee lovers out there.

  2. That’s great! I have been juicing for years but never thought of that. I do a kale, carrot, apple, celery, cucumber juice that is just fantastic. Even my young son loves it but I bet he would like it more as a frozen treat. πŸ™‚

    Good ideas about the pulp too. I sometimes use mine but sometimes I just take it over to the neighbors for their free roaming chickens. πŸ™‚ They love to eat the pulp. The pulp is also great to add to compost and then use that when it is ready to grow your own things to juice.
